HGUC RX78 Kiva WIP07 -Zanbat Sword Ver. 2 and Cape Progress-
Been playing around with different cape ideas, and decided to go with modifying the cloak that came with the MG Exia. Also spent all of sunday night starting on the Zanbat Sword ver. 2! Both at about %50 complete~
The slowest Henshin in the world continues! XD

CAPE PROGRESS:
Temporary mechanism for movement. Might build a custom backpack and add another joint at the top.
Some details… rush scribbled XD Need to paint cape red but no marker or spray yet.
ZANBAT SWORD Ver 2 PROGRESS:
I had a general idea of what to do; glue plaplates together and try to sculpt out the parts. But when I started, I threw those plans out and just went with a build as i go theme lol
Thicker blade, I love using runners.
Oh yea, I ran outta sandpaper so edges are super rough XD

Used red permanent marker on blade because my silver gundam marker is fudged T_T

Old and new comparison.
Version 1 progress here, same principle used but added more detail in version 2.
Could really used some putty to fill in open area and form a more solid object. I think picking some up putty would help a lot in this build as there are so many curved surfaces to work with.
His hand explodes a lot since the sword is a bit heavy.
One thing I realize with this build is; I have no idea what im doing working with plaplates! XD My work flow and planning is bad.
Lol I was scanning through modeling forums this weekend and was impressed with the prep some people put into their customizing. Need to take notes from them ^^

Love the new cape man!! Reminds me of those capes that I see in revoltechs.
Modding isn’t that easy I am afraid that is why planning is essential. But even more important is the willingness to try and experiment around. You’ll never know till you make that first cut!

*cut cut* …oh crap! lol yea its important to know the ins and outs of each kit when making major mods. ill keep experimenting, im still stuck in the design phase and its keeping me very busy ^^; especially since i wanna add functionality to the parts too.

Hm, the new sword does look more neatly done compared to the old one but it looks more “stubby” now. It does, however, looks nice in its own custom design. Maybe you should make him dual wield if you have a spare left open hand available. XD

its a minor improvement, could have been better but i always rush ^^; it is stubby at the moment without the top piece and its pretty thick, but still fits nicely since its for a gundam lol
dual wield would be awesome but this rx78 only comes with one open hand i think.

yup, this is the home of the eternal rx78 group build 😛 i wanted to challenge myself with new things in this build so im attempting a Gundam Rider!
the cape is from my MG Exia ignition mode. its the cloak from the repair parts, i dont plan to display my exia that way so im using it here.
good idea hijacking Exia cape XD now the torn marks is there, no need to tore the cape. like the new sword, the bat looks better on the 2nd version 😀

dont worry about exia, he doesnt plan to get beat up so bad to need it anytime soon ^^
I like zanbat sword 2. Maybe you can make it like garo’s big sword, I mean the tip of the sword is not pointy.
